What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is based on the principle that there are reflexes on the hands and feet that correspond to all the organs, glands and parts of the body.
A practitioner uses an acupressure technique to stimulate each reflex point. This will help to relax the body to achieve natural balance.
Reflexology is safe for people of all ages, including small babies.
What happens during a Reflexology treatment?
At your first appointment, your Reflexologist will take a full medical history to build up a picture of your health, lifestyle and your objectives for the treatment. This helps the therapist to make a personal treatment plan.
After removing your shoes and socks your therapist will examine your feet.
The treatment will begin with relaxation techniques then each reflex point will be stimulated using a special thumb and finger walking method.
The treatment should not be painful, but if an organ or gland is out of balance it may present some sensitivity.
Most people find reflexology very relaxing and sleep very well following a treatment.
You may find that you need to visit the toilet more often or you may have a runny nose.
Try to drink plenty of water to help the body to flush out toxins.
If you are concerned at any stage, do not hesitate to contact your therapist.
